Mt. Kinabalu located in Kinabalu Park is Malaysia first World Heritage Site with a height of 4095.2 meters is the highest mountain between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea. The mountain attracts climbers from all over the world and bookings have to be done very much earlier to avoid disappointment. A typical climb to the summit will take 2 days 1 night with overnights at mountain huts. However if you have good fitness, a strong will, top mental condition but have not make any reservations to climb to the summit of Mt. Kinabalu and spaces are no longer available there is an option for you to experience a climb to the summit of Mt. Kinabalu in a Day.


Tour Itinerary

  • 0500hrs - Greeted by your tour guide, proceed to Kinabalu Park, A journey which will take approximately 2hrs passing by local villages and traversing the Crocker Range.
  • 0700hrs - Arrive at Kinabalu Park HQ, register at the Park Office, get the permit, meet Mountain Guide, collect packed lunch and proceed to the Timpohon Gate to start your climb to Laban Rata.
  • 0730hrs - Arrive Timpohon Gate, Start the trek up to Laban Rata (All Day Climbers must reach the Laban Rata Area before 10:00am, if the climber reach Laban Rata later than 10:00am, the climber will not be allowed to climb to the summit of Mt. Kinabalu). If the Climber reach the Laban Rata at the designated time and the weather is fine, the park ranger will then allow the climber to proceed to scale the summit (All Climbers allowed to climb to the summit will need to reach the summit latest by 1300hrs. By 2200hrs, all Climbers have to return to Laban Rata regardless if they reach the summit or not).
  • From Laban Rata, start the trek down to Timpohon gate.
  • Arrive at Timpohon Gate, proceed to the Park HO to collect your Certificates and depart for Kota Kinabalu. Journey will take approximately 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs.
  • Arrive at Kota Kinabalu, transfer to Hotel. End of Tour.


It is recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb. If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommend that you should refrain from climbing: Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitation, Arthritis, Heart disease, severe anemia, Peptic ulcers, Epileptic fits, Obesity (overweight), Chronic asthma, Muscular cramps, Hepatitis (jaundice) or any other disease which may hamper the climber. All Day Climbers must sign Indemnity release forms.
